Thanks, are they expecting something to happen in the future, let's hope it's just for power cuts or similar.

And thanks to a strong America and a strong Nato defence future government alerts are more likely to be for power cuts if Ed Miliband is allowed to be fully let loose.

It's just another means for the State to terrorise the population; and quite minor compared to State Sponsored Terrorism that's gone before..

Well, what was the point of that?Yes, it went off, and I pressed OK straight away to stop the noise. All the text and jargon disappeared.

Mine didn't ring at all though those of my two visitors did. I think it was because I was at home and my phone was on Wifi, which is weird because I'm perfectly likely to be at home when Armageddon dawns.

Would think if something happened and all wi-fi was shut down, your phone should work, however not everyone has a mobile phone.
You'll have seen some text accompanying the Alert.Mine asked whether I required it to be given in Welsh. How did they know I'd been to Abergavenny once?

Everyone should have a mobile phone. Certainly pensioners will as they are going to be given one, or a laptop. This is to avoid digital exclusion. I haven't had my laptop yet from the government though!
Nicholas Beard ● 419d
They asked me that Jim, would have had no idea what it said despite my surname.

The only place that Ed Miliband should be set loose, is in a secure padded cell, with his only meal being bacon sandwiches.

Alternately placed in an open field, hair ruffled by a howling gale, acoustic guitar in hand giving a truly shocking imitation of a Bob Dylan number.
